Sending Bitcoin
Most wallets use similar interfaces for sending or receiving bitcoin. The images below are from an Exodus desktop wallet. To send you enter the public address provided by the recipient. It is advised to copy/paste or scan a QR code when entering blockchain bitcoin addresses, as it is easy to make mistakes. Triple check that the address is correct because blockchain transactions are irreversible. Most wallets also show both crypto and fiat currency amounts for entry fields. Enter the amount you wish to send, click “send”, confirm, and let the wallet do the heavy lifting.
Receiving Bitcoin
Like traditional bank transfers that use account numbers, receiving blockchain assets uses account addresses. Once you click the receive button, the wallet shows your Bitcoin public address. Similar to a bank account number, you give this bitcoin address to another person from whom you wish to receive a bitcoin payment.
Using Exodus desktop wallet, as with some others, there are action buttons that allow copy, print, and email of your bitcoin address. Finally, there is a QR code in this window that contains your bitcoin address. Scan this QR code from a mobile device to send bitcoin between devices without typing long addresses or emailing blockchain addresses to yourself.
